Theatre Director Price Johnston receives national URTA award

 

Colorado State University Director of Theatre Price Johnston has been selected to receive an URTA Excellence Award in Undergraduate Training from the University Resident Theatre Association (URTA). in the area of Projection/Media Design.

In addition to his role as director, Johnston is associate professor of theatre in Lighting, Sound, and Projection Design.

In a congratulatory letter, Executive Director Tony Hagopian states that "The URTA Excellence Awards recognize the outstanding work of individuals and institutions whose students show remarkable skill and professionalism in presentation and preparation. Through these awards, URTA seeks to acknowledge the importance of helping young theatre artists develop the essential skills they will need in order to advance to the next level of their training, and ultimately the profession."

According to URTA's website, the organization, which was founded in 1969, supports "excellence in professional training of theatre artists, ensuring the continued renewal of the American theatre."

Johnston will be honored at a reception during the 2020 URTA Auditions & Interviews in Chicago, Illinois on January 24.
