Directed by Javier Hurtado
Everybody is a modern retelling of the 15th-century morality tale The Summoning of Everyman. Join Friendship, Kinship, Stuff, Mind, Five Senses, and Understanding as they guide Everybody on their journey through life and destiny and towards Love. Jacobs-Jenkins plays with fate through a casting lottery system and muses on the immorality of racism of our times. This production is Professor Javier Hurtado’s directorial debut at CSU.
Director’s Note: This updated retelling of Everyman – CSU’s Fall 2024 production of Brandon Jacobs-Jenkins’ Everybody – is a surreal meditation on what it means to hold on and what it takes to let go. Audiences can expect a different show every night since, just as in life, chance and fate have a significant role to play. The play is performed by an ensemble cast that has memorized the whole script because they discover what role they will play for each performance along with the audience when they draw that role, live, onstage, during the show! Everybody asks big questions and tells a timeless story with heart, energy, humor, and humanity.
Content Warning: This production includes adult language, themes, and scenes with nudity. Not appropriate for all ages.

I just watched the closing performance of Everybody and was absolutely blown away. This was my first CSU play that I’ve seen, and immediately after I left the theater I asked myself why the hell I haven’t seen a play with the last 6 semesters I’ve been here. I just finished raving about the play to my roommate, and I will certainly be back to see another performance. Bravo to the cast!
Chloe, I’m so glad you came and enjoyed the play! Come again soon!
