A theatre interest meeting is held the first week of the semester in the University Theatre in the University Center for the Arts, located at 1400 Remington Street. Map. Please join the Canvas Call-Board to receive details.

• All students in the performance concentration are required to audition for all productions.
• All CSU students, regardless of major, may audition for a theatre production (see below).
• First-year theatre performance majors should take TH 186 Practicum: Crew Assignment in the fall, which allows you to crew a show during your first semester.
• Students outside the theatre major who would like an introduction to the shops and design classes can take select theatre courses. Admittance to these courses is on a space available basis and/or may require a prerequisite. Please contact the course instructor to discuss eligibility, space, and to request an override.

Information for the spring theatre auditions is listed below. If you have any question about the auditions or issues with the audition form or audition sign up contact Matt Grevan at Matt.Grevan@colostate.edu. Please do not contact the director.

When and Where:

Auditions for Metamorphosis directed by Dr. Wesley Longacre and Comedy of Errors directed by Debbie Swann will be held Friday, October 16, with the possibility of extending to Saturday, October 17th in the large acting lab. The department of music is producing the musical Carousel next semester and will be holding auditions next month. Please see the audition information below.

What to prepare for Metamorphosis and Comedy of Errors:

Actors should prepare a contemporary (20th or 21st century) dramatic monologue that is a minute and a half to two minutes in length as well as a one-to-two-minute comedic, classical monologue (preferably Shakespeare but any contemporary would suffice).

Actors also have the option of showcasing musical talent with a 30 second display of acapella singing and/or playing an instrument.

All auditions will be held to no longer 5 minutes in length.

The audition form (link below) must be filled out by Thursday, October 15. Complete the form before you sign up for an audition slot.

Auditions for Carousel will take place:

Tuesday, October 6, 5-8 p.m.: Organ Recital Hall
Thursday, October 8, 2-6 p.m.: Organ Recital Hall

What to prepare for Carousel auditions:

Performers are asked to prepare a 1-minute monologue and 32 bars of a song. The song choice does not have to be from Carousel, but performers have the option to select a song from the production. Contact Matt Grevan to obtain select cuttings of songs from the production.​​

Carousel Schedule:

Performers should note that rehearsals begin in the Spring Semester and is a class that meets Tuesday/Thursday 2-5 p.m. and select Tuesday evening rehearsals, 7-10 p.m.

Billy Bigelow – carousel barker, baritone  handsome, cocky, charismatic barker for Mullin's Carousel. Proud, troubled, hard-headed, torn between right and wrong. In love with Julie Jordan. strong singer and strong actor.
Julie Jordan – mill worker, soprano  reserved mill worker who falls in love with Billy Bigelow. Julie has an inner strength and maturity in the second act as the mother. strong singer and strong actor.
Carrie Pipperidge – Julie's friend, high mezzo/soprano lively, funny friend and coworker of Julie Jordan. In love with Enoch Snow, Carrie offers a light-hearted balance to Julie's seriousness. strong singer and strong actor.
Enoch Snow – fisherman/businessman, tenor a bumbling, shy fisherman with big plans for the future. A successful and somewhat pompous business owner in the second act. strong singer and strong actor.
Jigger Craigin – sailor, Billy's shady friend, baritone the dangerous, menacing seaman friend of Billy's who ultimately leads Billy astray. A con man with a bit of humor and an eye for Carrie Pipperidge. good singer and a strong actor.
Mrs. Nettie Fowler – Julie's cousin, mezzo or soprano Soft-hearted, hearty coastal woman who owns and runs a seaside business. Nettie is Julie's strength throughout the show. strong singer and actor. Motherly figure to Julie.

Supporting roles:
Mrs. Mullin – carousel owner middle-aged widow and owner of the carousel. Jealously in love with Billy. Double with the ensemble.
David Bascombe – mill owner the very strict owner of the local textile mill where Julie, Carrie and the other girls work. Double with the ensemble.
The Starkeeper / Dr. Seldon – possibly double-cast an angel sent to bring Billy to the Starkeeper after Billy's death. Dr. Seldon is the earthy version of the Starkeeper
