Beckett Center Mission

Challenging the Boundaries

The Center serves to promote the creation and documentation of practice and performance of the theatre of Samuel Beckett and of new work that, similarly to Beckett, seeks to challenge the boundaries of contemporary theatre practice. The Center encourages interdisciplinary partnerships, artistic collaborations and performance opportunities, and actively works to sustain visibility and recognition of Beckett's theatre, both as significant art and as living contemporary performance.

Quote: "I can't think of another institution that features this depth and quality of research to undergraduates. The Beckett Center seems another outgrowth of a very professional perspective, adding another, and most unique, layer to their undergraduate theatre training."

~ Les Waters (award-winning theatre director, Associate Artistic Director, Berkeley Repertory Theatre)
