CSU students recognized for costume and lighting designs

KCACTF Region 7 awards first place in Design and Technology Management  to James Fagan for costume design on These Seven Sicknessesand Natalie Doocey for lighting design on Dido and AeneasThis is the highest honor in Design Technology and Management (DTM) awarded annually to just five recipients across the DTM areas.

Fagan is a senior theatre major in the performance concentration, and Doocey is a junior theatre major is the design and technology concentration.

"This is a huge accomplishment," said Erin Carignan, CSU costume professor. "Please congratulate these students when you see them!"

The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) brings together exceptional student actors and technicians from across the western states.

The Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival is a national theatre program, with more than 20,000 participants annually, and, according to the organization’s website, for more than 50 years, the organization has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the United States.

For 2021, Theatre students from Region 7 gathered virtually and competed for honors, awards, and scholarships for their creative accomplishments in theatre productions staged at their schools. The KCACTF network of 700 academic institutions throughout the country includes Region 7, comprised of nine western states: Alaska, Northern California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Northern Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.
